The Weaving Workshop is an online community, where we come together to share inspiration and motivation around the artistic process.

We are a group of creative people who are actively seeking ways to heal, grow, and enhance their lives through their art.

Here on The Common Thread you will find inspiring posts about art, textile design, colors, trends, all with beautiful visual imagery.

The Common Thread online art journal was created in 2017 by Artist, Designer, and Curator Brittany Wittman McLaughlin, Her desire to teach and share ideas on art and design in a community is vital to her creative life. This is her solution – create an online platform to encourage others to express their artistic voices within a group of like-minded creative spirits.

My education and industry experience is rooted in the Bauhaus methodology to art and design. This chalkboard was in the hand weaving studio at Philadelphia University when I was a student, technical associate, and visiting professor. To me this image represents the very foundation of The Weaving Workshop. The Common Thread is the name of a campus cafe and gathering place at Philadelphia University.

These musings on making bind us and our creativity together.

This is our common thread.
