Materiality & Method showcases the work of 21 artists addressing the intersection of process and material, and how artists address these ideas in their work. The juried show features work using innovative methods that manipulate, re-imagine, and transcend our understanding of material. All forms of fiber art, contained within a footprint of no more than 24″ x 24″, were welcome, including surface design, basketry, weaving, paper, and assemblage.

The show runs in concert with Textile Arts’ second annual textile summit, also titled Materiality & Method. The weekend summit features speakers and workshops, and serves as a capstone event for the region’s first annual Textile Month, celebrating textiles throughout Southern California. Since its inception two years ago, Textile Arts has emerged as a thriving collective for knowledge, thoughtful action, and professional support. The organization has expanded its membership to more than 150 working professionals, artists, and enthusiastic craftspeople, who share a vision and commitment to textile arts and artistic expression.
